AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL WHOSE EPERIENCE OF CHURCH HAS BEEN OR STILL IS PAINFUL.

06/12/2011

As a Pastor I have been saddened often by the vast number of people I have met who have been so wounded by their experience of Church, that it is now either impossible for them to attend or still very painful to do so. STRUGGLING WITH THE” BLACK DOG”

29/04/2011

In my early forties I experienced what earlier writers called the dark night of the soul. I had reached a point of burn out and the deepest and darkest of depressions descended on me. During this time I felt like a failure as a father, as a pastor, as a husband and indeed as a man. GRAEME CANNS ADDRESS FOR THE CCA BANQUET

10/02/2011

Introduction.

In the immediate aftermath of Black Saturday one comforting spark of information for me was that among the hundreds of volunteers, responding to the desperate needs of the bushfire survivors, were many CCAA members.  These people were making themselves and their counselling and caring  skills available in many of the fire affected areas across Victoria. This was a particularly emotional thought for me because it was at El Kanah in Marysville, one of the worst effected areas, where the first committee meetings of what was to become The Christian Counsellors Association of Victoria were held. It was at those first meetings that we dreamed of a day when Christian Counsellors, highly trained and nationally accredited would take their place among Australia’s people helping professionals, and this was just another example of the fulfilment of that vision. Many people have been involved since then in pursuing the vision, and this is an opportunity to honour them and to give thanks to God for both birthing the vision and for bringing it into being.
